Choosing the right EV Charger

If you have ordered your first electric vehicle you will need a type 2 charger, so now you need to decide if you would prefer a tethered or untethered charger. Here are the pros and cons...

Tethered EV Chargers

Pros:

  • More convenient, cable always ready for charging

  • Cable cannot be removed from the unit during charging

Cons:

  • Can look messy if time is not taken to wrap the cable up

  • A damaged cable will need replacing by a professional

Untethered EV Chargers

Pros:

  • Usually smaller and tidier as cables can be stored in your EV

  • A damaged cable can be unplugged and replaced

Cons:

  • Less convenient to remove the cable after each charging session
